Requirements

  • 3+ years of media sales experience preferred (TV, radio, digital, or related industry)
  • Proven ability to develop new business and sell to local business owners
  • Experience with the development of new business/non-traditional business
  • Strong negotiation skills and consultative sales approach
  • Experience in a consultative customer-focused business atmosphere
  • Accountability within a goal-structured organization; experience in a goal-driven, competitive environment
  • Understand and use qualitative research to further sales effort; ability to analyze market research and position clients for success
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with sales software (Wide Orbit, Wide Orbit Media Sales, or similar programs a plus).
  • Ability to analyze market research and position clients for success.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Related military experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Generate revenue across WBAL-TV’s platforms (TV, digital, streaming, and web)
  • Prospect, contact and present to new businesses
  • Develop new revenue through local business development, non-traditional business
  • Form strategic and market partnerships with local businesses and national advertisers
  • Sell high-profile programming like Sunday Night Football, The Olympics, and major sports franchises
  • Manage and grow active account/client portfolio
  • Conceptualize, create, and deliver sales proposals that are consistent with station strategies, including customized, research-driven presentations
  • Achieve individual sales goals while contributing to WBAL-TV’s dynamic sales team
