MEDIA Research Project Manager (part-time 17.5 hours/week) Come join Project MEDIA (Media Effects on Development from Infancy to Adulthood), supported by the BYU School of Family Life Human Development Program! This research project examines the influences and effects of media on childhood and adolescent development and is the first major research project of its kind. As our project manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day details of the project, with an emphasis on administration, data management, contracts and budget, and supporting the Principal Investigators in manuscript preparation. Requirements

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
  • Master’s degree in Human Development, social science, or closely related field
  • Self-starter, with management skills for both undergraduate and graduate students
  • Organizational and social skills to keep teams motivated and working well together
  • Understanding of advanced research methods, statistical software, and database management
  • Ability to foster strong relationships with students and faculty

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or PhD and 2+ years of experience managing or participating in research-oriented endeavors
  • Working knowledge with Qualtrics, SPSS, MPlus, Excel, and website management software
  • Experience in higher education

Responsibilities

  • Supervise student leaders, including training and leading weekly meetings
  • Process and approve all undergraduate student work hours and reimbursements for project-related travel
  • Maintain research project IRB, codebook, and contracts, including yearly budget and auditing spending reports
  • Update and manage the Project MEDIA website
  • Help write method sections of Principal Investigator (PI) manuscripts
  • Answer PI questions, support and schedule PI travel, and assist them with data cleaning, statistical procedures, and result sections of manuscripts
  • Coordinate with PIs for all logistics on the annual writing retreat
