Athletic Technician Assistant – Track (part-time 17.5 hours/week) Do you want to be a part of making BYU campus beautiful? Working for BYU Grounds provides a great opportunity to be in the beautiful outdoors working alongside wonderful people! The Athletic Technician Assistant - Track assists the Athletic/Special Events Supervisor to maintain and beautify the Robison Track Complex, Helaman Field, and Riviera Apartments. He or she will ensure safe and proper equipment operation and use. He or she is also responsible for equipment inventory, maintenance, and daily equipment needs. He or she participates in snow removal and must be available for call-outs during snow season.

Requirements

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
  • Willingness to learn or previous experience using maintenance equipment
  • Ability to stand or crouch in a variety of positions, operating on one’s feet for an extended period of time to perform various labor tasks
  • Ability to work well with a variety of people
  • Regular and consistent attendance at scheduled shift

  • Strong communication skills for client or team interaction
  • Time management and ability to work independently or on a team

Responsibilities

  • Work with the field manager to learn proper field care techniques and turf management.
  • Help paint sport fields on grass surfaces using mechanical painters
  • Duties include: mowing, edging, trimming, weeding, sprinkler care, raking leaves, equipment care, and other general maintenance tasks.
  • Be available for evenings and weekends during track season to work BYU and high school track meets.
  • Be on call to work on snow removal areas during the winter.
  • Available 24/7 during the snow season for snow removal, and work with other snow removal teams to ensure efficient operations and campus safety
  • Perform other tasks as requested by supervisor
