About The Position

Are you creative, social media savvy, and ready to build a real portfolio while working behind the scenes at one of Elkhart’s most iconic venues? The Lerner Theatre is seeking a Media Intern to support digital content creation, social media, and event coverage. This paid internship offers hands on experience in a fast paced, creative environment where your work will be seen by the public and used in real campaigns. This is not a “watch and learn” internship. You will actively create, collaborate, and contribute. The Media Intern supports the City of Elkhart and The Lerner Theatre by assisting with digital media, social media content, and event coverage. This internship provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced, creative environment and offers the opportunity to contribute to real-world campaigns while building a professional media portfolio.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program
  • Basic knowledge of social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok
  • Interest in content creation such as photos, videos, and short-form media
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to maintain professionalism when representing the City and The Lerner Theatre
  • Ability to attend and move about event venues
  • Ability to use standard office and media equipment
  • Ability to focus on detail-oriented tasks and creative work
  • Creative and enthusiastic approach to storytelling
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative
  • Positive attitude and professionalism
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Preferred fields of study include communications, marketing, media, journalism, or a related discipline

Responsibilities

  • Assist with creating engaging social media content for The Lerner Theatre
  • Capture photos and videos at City and Theatre events
  • Support content development for digital campaigns and community outreach
  • Assist with scheduling social media posts and tracking engagement metrics
  • Collaborate with the media team on creative brainstorming and project support
  • Perform day-to-day administrative and media-related tasks as assigned
