About The Position

The Media Center Coordinator fosters a love of reading and supports student learning by maintaining an organized, welcoming media center. This role partners with teachers to enhance instruction, manages reading programs, and models Christ-centered values in all interactions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education
  • Possess the skills, aptitudes, and abilities to perform each duty proficiently
  • Lifting and transporting boxes not exceeding 20 pounds
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time while instructing
  • Excellent hearing abilities
  • Physical ability to transport students from one area of a building/campus to another

Responsibilities

  • Ministering to students compassionately and sincerely so they may continue to grow in their faith.
  • Accepting the work at Mount Paran Christian School as a personal calling and identify themselves as ministers of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • Maintaining a healthy learning environment for the students in both the classroom as well as instruction
  • Monitoring and management of students’ behavior, including appropriate enforcement of student behavior rules
  • Following professional practices consistent with school policies in working with students, students’ records, parents and colleagues
  • Maintaining a professional demeanor in dealings with parents and students
  • Attending and participating in faculty meetings and other assigned meetings and activities according to school policy
  • Manage daily media center operations, including circulation, shelving, and organization of materials
  • Maintain an inviting, orderly, and well-resourced media center environment
  • Guide students in book selection and promote a love of reading through story times and engagement
  • Maintain the bulletin board and decorative shelves outside the media center.
  • Create and implement creative programs to motivate the students to read more.
  • Support teachers by curating resources and assisting with classroom units and research projects
  • Manage Renaissance learning programs (STAR Reading, Accelerated Reader), including student accounts and progress monitoring
  • Assist students with basic research and information literacy skills
  • Support school-wide needs such as laminating, butcher paper preparation, and shared resource management
  • Contribute to reading initiatives and a positive, Christ-centered school culture
  • Participate in school events and fulfill other duties as assigned
  • Assuming responsibility for supervision of students in out-of-class settings, such as field trips or recess
  • Showing support and high esteem for MPCS
  • Complying with conditions as stated in employee contract and handbook
  • Modeling appropriate Christian behavior in speech and actions
  • Any other duties as assigned
