Location: Beach House Assisted Living & Memory Care -Jacksonville Beach, Florida Part-Time- 3 days & every other weekend 6am-2pm Position Summary: The Med Tech is responsible for ensuring the timely, safe, and accurate assisting with medications for residents in our assisted living and memory care units. This role involves working closely with nursing staff and caregivers to maintain a high standard of care, ensuring residents' health and well-being in accordance with state regulations and community policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Med Tech certification in the state of Florida.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Compassionate, patient, and respectful attitude toward elderly residents, particularly those with dementia or Alzheimer's.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple responsibilities, and maintain a calm demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic knowledge of medication assisting procedures, side effects, and interactions.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as required in assisting residents.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in assisted living or memory care settings preferred.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with medications per physician orders and within the scope of practice as regulated by Florida law.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medication records, including documentation of assistance, refusals, and any changes in resident status.
  • Observe residents for potential side effects, reactions, or changes in behavior, and report any concerns to nursing staff.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed, such as grooming, dressing, and personal hygiene.
  • Monitor and document residents' vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, and pulse, as required.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal of medications according to community policy and state guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and other team members to address concerns or changes in care plans.
  • Follow all infection control and safety protocols to ensure a safe and clean environment for residents and staff.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to remain compliant with state regulations and community standards.
  • Assist in coordinating resident appointments and transportation for off-site medical visits, as needed.
  • Provide compassionate, patient-centered care in a manner that upholds the dignity and privacy of each resident.
