About The Position

MWC is a state of the art cheese and whey production facility in St. Johns, MI. MWC is a joint venture between Glanbia Nutritionals, Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) and Select Milk Producers Inc. (Select). Job Summary Install, diagnosis and repair industrial equipment. Monitor equipment and process functions to ensure they operate at designed efficiencies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • A minimum of 1 year Electrical / Mechanical maintenance experience preferred.
  • Desire to grow with the company.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiply projects simultaneously and delegate assignments to others.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceive attributes of objects and materials.
  • Involves moderate physical activity performing strenuous day activities of a primarily productive/technical nature.
  • Should be able to judge distances and spatial relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for electrical mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
  • Assists operators and maintenance employees in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
  • Assists in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Repairs and maintains machinery such as pneumatic tools, motors, conveyor systems and production machines and equipment using testing instruments, hand and power tools and precision-measuring instruments.
  • Work on the chemical pumps, valves and plumbing in the CIP kitchens.
  • Dismantles devices to remove defective parts.
  • Performs preventative and predictive maintenance on equipment.
  • Analyzes equipment failures, determines cause and makes necessary adjustments.
  • Repairs, maintains, replaces, installs and tests electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices.
  • Replaces electric motor bearings and rewires motors. Diagnoses and replaces faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic.
  • Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers, to diagnose malfunction.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables using electrical hand tools and voltage or ampere measuring devices.
  • Test electrical components.
  • Utilizes GPS processes, driving zero losses and upholds the culture of Glanbia non-negotiables.
  • Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health Act which are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct.
  • Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance)
