Under general supervision, with wide latitude for planning or laying out of working details, must be able to perform highly complex mechanical work involved in the inspection, repair and installation of mechanical equipment in generating stations, and be qualified to do the following and related work as assigned: Inspect and maintain all power plant mechanical equipment, such as boilers, turbines. Pumps, fans, condensers, tanks, buildings and fixtures, piping systems, compressors, heat exchange apparatus, and appurtenant equipment in accordance with applicable statutory rules and regulations Erect foundations and supports and install minor auxiliary and related apparatus such as pumps, turbines, piping layouts, valves, regulators, traps, building fixtures, tanks, etc. Diagnose mechanical troubles of important equipment and apparatus and correct or recommend corrective measures Perform operations requiring reasonable precision with machine tools, such as drill presses, pipe and bolt threading machines, band saws, punch or shear, etc. Perform precision work with hand and bench tools in connection with the fitting, adjustment, alignment, etc. of governors, bearings, shafting, gears and similar mechanical equipment Set up rigging for the installation and maintenance of mechanical equipment, foundations, supports, etc. Layout work from prints or verbal instructions Direct work of assistants Assist in general operation and maintenance during unusual or emergency periods Prepare maintenance and other routine reports. Mark up mechanical prints Perform necessary housekeeping
