About The Position

As a Mechanical Systems Engineer - Power Conversion Platforms, you will lead the mechanical design of next-generation power conversion systems, beginning with a 150kW module and scaling to multi-module, high-capacity configurations. You'll be responsible for enclosure development, thermal management, and board-to-board connectivity across both single-unit and stacked systems. This role supports a platforming initiative aimed at accelerating product customization by establishing reusable mechanical frameworks. You'll collaborate with external partners on advanced cooling solutions, represent mechanical engineering in cross-functional teams, and ensure seamless integration of components such as batteries, HMIs, and PCBs. Your work will contribute to scalable, manufacturable designs that align with strategic product goals and enable rapid deployment of future power conversion solutions. You'll work collaboratively with suppliers and other Applied partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering required
  • Proven experience in mechanical design for power conversion systems, including enclosures, thermal management, and board-to-board connectivity
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and mechanical drawings, including complex surfaces and routed assemblies
  • Strong background in thermal analysis, FEA, and CFD simulations for system-level performance optimization
  • Familiarity with rack-mounted equipment, UPS systems, inverters, rectifiers, and modular power devices
  • Ability to define, prototype, validate, and support mechanical systems from concept to production
  • Skilled in leading design reviews and mentoring engineers, technicians, and assembly teams
  • Experience managing BOMs and documentation using tools like Empower, PDM, and Epicor
  • Capable of working independently and as a team member
  • Strong work ethic and unwavering integrity
