Founded in 1992, InServ is a full-service industrial contractor specializing in mechanical, electrical and instrumentation, hygienic piping, and HVAC trades. They operate from multiple locations across North Carolina and serve clients across the Southeast, working in the life science, advanced manufacturing, and food and beverage industries. The company emphasizes safety, quality, and adherence to schedules. The Mechanical Superintendent is a critical role responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of Mechanical/HVAC systems in construction projects. This position acts as the crew leader, ensuring that work is performed efficiently, safely, to high quality standards, and within budget.

Requirements

  • A valid license
  • Several years of experience in the industry, with experience in a supervisory role
  • Strong understanding of Mechanical HVAC systems and their controls
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and specifications
  • Commitment to safety and a strong safety record
  • Current OSHA 30 certification

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing project blueprints and specifications to understand the scope of work
  • Participating in the planning stages, determining material needs, labor requirements, and scheduling tasks
  • Coordinating with other trades to avoid conflicts during installation
  • Training and supervising Mechanical crews
  • Assigning tasks, ensuring they're completed according to plans and safety protocols
  • Monitoring work progress, identifying and resolving any issues that arise
  • Regularly inspecting installations to ensure compliance with blueprints, specifications, and local building codes
  • Addressing any deviations or defects promptly
  • Enforcing safety regulations on the construction site
  • Providing crews with proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Conducting safety briefings and training sessions
  • Communicating effectively with project managers, architects, and engineers
  • Addressing client concerns or inquiries related to plumbing systems
  • Estimating material and labor costs for tasks
  • Monitoring project budget and identifying areas for cost savings (without compromising quality)
  • Troubleshooting installation problems and devising effective solutions
  • Adapting to unforeseen circumstances and making adjustments to plans as needed
  • Maintaining accurate records of plumbing work completed
  • Preparing reports on project progress, material usage, and labor hours
  • Staying up-to-date on the latest codes, materials, and technologies
  • Attending training sessions to improve skills and knowledge
  • Overseeing all aspects of the project to ensure it's finished on schedule
