About The Position

At CESO, a Mechanical Staff Designer I is an entry level position which helps the senior design staff execute projects by performing basic duties including technical design and calculations, document production, and all other necessary project duties to complete projects on time, within budget and consistent with industry production and care standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university is preferred;
  • Or Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology is preferred;
  • Or a minimum of 1 year of relevant design experience without a degree is required.
  • Computer skills necessary to enter daily timesheet data and use Microsoft Outlook for email correspondence.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (FE) and certification as an Engineering in Training (EIT) with a state licensure board is preferred.
  • Prior experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Carrier HAP, and BlueBeam Revu is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Learn how to communicate design requirements effectively with internal and external design team members, contractors, and equipment sales representatives to determine project scope and feasibility.
  • Develop an understanding of industry standards, the technical policies, and company-specific procedures for project execution.
  • Perform calculations, design basic engineering system(s), and fulfill other duties as assigned through collaboration and with assistance from experienced design staff.
  • Create system layouts, detail drawings, schematics, and schedules using Revit, AutoCAD, or other software.
  • Develop Heating and Cooling Load Calculations within Carrier HAP software.
  • Model airside ductwork, air terminals, and equipment.
  • Model waterside piping, pumps, terminal, and main equipment.
  • Help prepare and modify studies, plans, reports, specifications, and project designs.
  • Support engineers and project managers in daily planning, coordination, and project completion.
  • Review shop drawings and equipment submittals for plan document and project specification conformance.
  • Learn local, state, and federal engineering regulations, codes and standards and incorporate into project design(s).
  • Visit project sites to verify existing conditions and/or observe construction progress.
  • Actively and continually seek to grow, improve, and expand industry and technical knowledge base through daily work and by attending internal and external educational training(s).
  • Maintain knowledge of common industry software, including but not limited to: REVIT, AutoCAD, Bluebeam REVU, MS Office Suite, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
