Role Overview The Mechanical Specialist C supports the maintenance and repair of gas and steam turbine generators, focusing on learning and assisting in mechanical and electrical component work. This entry-level position is designed for individuals developing their technical expertise. It requires a commitment to safety, hands-on learning, and frequent travel to various job sites to support turbine maintenance operations.

Requirements

  • One-year certificate from a technical school or at least one year of related experience/training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and manuals.
  • Ability to calculate measurements involving proportions, geometry, and algebra.
  • Common sense reasoning and the ability to follow simple written, oral, or diagram instruction.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport.
  • Ability to travel frequently for field assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership
  • Assist in the alignment of turbine combustors and components, including inter-stage seal housings, blade rings, and transitions.
  • Support rigging activities involving blade ring rollout, cylinder lifts, and rotor removal/installation.
  • Help with coupling alignment on rotating equipment and turbine generators.
  • Follow safety and material control procedures during turbine inspections and closures.
  • Learn and apply quality control procedures.
  • Assist with turbine blade and vane segment installation/removal.
  • Begin using precision measurement equipment and interpreting data.
  • Support troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Learn proper crane safety practices and lifting signals.
  • Maintain and report on tooling inventory.
  • Provide suggestions to Field Supervisor for tooling improvements.
  • Travel overnight (70% or more) by land and/or air to support field operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
