About The Position

The role supports the design, installation, and commissioning of can making and process support equipment. It is responsible for planning and delivering small to medium scale projects from concept through completion, including budgeting, resourcing, project control, and reporting. The position also provides technical process support to manufacturing sites and assists project managers as part of larger project teams.

Requirements

  • Broad training in a related field, typically acquired through high school, college, or graduate-level education, or through relevant work-related experience
  • Approximately 2 years of related industry experience preferred
  • Strong computer skills with the standard Microsoft Office suite
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and mechanical engineering principles
  • Willingness to work towards and maintain professional competence, ethical integrity, and technical knowledge
  • Ability to handle sensitive and proprietary information confidentially
  • Ability to work independently within management-defined parameters, including self-initiating assignments and driving actions to achieve results
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong presentation abilities
  • Demonstrated attentive and active listening skills, with the ability to accurately reflect differing viewpoints
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and contribute to a positive, productive work environment
  • Strong capability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • English language proficiency required

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing assigned projects from start to completion within areas of technical expertise, while working flexibly as part of a multi-disciplinary team to achieve overall project objectives
  • Liaising with project and plant teams to establish full project scope or determine root causes of problems
  • Full design and approval of layouts and generation of schematics using company-standard drawing tools such as AutoCAD
  • Generating specifications and project-specific criteria, working with other functions within the Ball Engineering group where necessary
  • Liaising with OEMs and other contractors to ensure compliance with applicable Ball specifications, standards, and project-specific criteria
  • Liaising with suitably skilled engineers, suppliers, and contractors to ensure the selection of appropriate components and systems in line with project location or project-specific criteria
  • Working with business functional resources and relevant local authorities or official bodies to secure permits, permissions, and required design approvals
  • Obtaining competitive quotations from multiple suppliers and contractors to ensure projects are delivered within approved budgets
  • Participating in the selection of competent contractors and advising chosen contractors during the implementation phase
  • Writing equipment specifications for projects and updating plant-specific documentation as required
  • Providing commissioning support, including full involvement in testing, start-up, and debugging of equipment or systems until design efficiency is achieved, including managing design modifications and documentation updates
  • Ensuring all drawings, documentation, and software are fully updated upon project completion, with copies provided to the plant and stored in the company’s designated archive
