The Mechanical / Process Engineering Supervisor leads and manages the mechanical and process engineering team in the design, development, and execution of industrial and manufacturing facility projects. This role ensures all engineering work meets safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives while adhering to applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. The position requires an active North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to serve as the Engineer of Record (EOR) for company projects, and to qualify for the company’s engineering license.

Requirements

  • Active North Carolina PE license required, or ability to serve as the Engineer of Record (EOR) and qualify for the company’s engineering business license.
  • 8+ years of mechanical/process engineering experience in industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • 4+ years in a supervisory, lead engineer, or project management role.
  • Proven experience working with multinational engineering teams and subcontractors, coordinating diverse stakeholders on complex industrial projects.
  • Strong technical expertise in mechanical systems, industrial utilities, piping design, and process layouts.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical and process engineers and designers.
  • Oversee the design and analysis of piping, HVAC, process, and utility systems for industrial and manufacturing facilities.
  • Serve as the Professional Engineer of Record (EOR), reviewing and stamping engineering documents to ensure compliance.
  • Support the company in qualifying for and maintaining the engineering business license.
  • Establish and enforce engineering design standards, QA/QC procedures, and best practices.
  • Coordinate with cross-disciplinary teams (electrical, civil, structural, controls) to ensure fully integrated project designs.
  • Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and culturally aware work environment.
  • Manage mechanical/process engineering scope, budgets, and schedules across multiple projects.
  • Support project planning, estimating, and proposal development.
  • Provide technical leadership during design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Conduct design and constructability reviews and provide field support during installation and testing.
  • Interface with multinational clients, contractors, and vendors, ensuring effective communication and technical solutions.
  • Maintain compliance with NC requirements and all relevant codes
  • Ensure all engineering work meets local, state, federal, and client safety and environmental regulations.
  • Uphold professional integrity, ethics, and engineering accountability as the Engineer of Record (EOR).
  • The Supervising Engineer communicates regularly with project teams, field personnel, and department leadership to ensure technical accuracy, schedule adherence, and resource alignment.
  • The role requires coordinating with clients, subcontractors, and consultants to clarify design intent, resolve issues, and secure approvals.
  • Effective communication includes influencing engineering and construction teams to follow standards, negotiating with external partners on technical solutions, and presenting project status, budget, and risk information to senior management.
  • Collaboration and problem-solving across multidisciplinary teams are essential to maintain project quality, safety, and performance
