About The Position

The Mechanical Operations Technician Level I, utilizes tools, fixtures, and work instructions to support repair of low complexity conveyors and/or Metal Detector repair and new build production.

  • For Liner Installation: Plastic Welding/ Basic Woodwork skills a plus

Responsibilities

  • Follow detailed work instructions, processes and procedures
  • Diagnose, refurbish and repair product inspection equipment in accordance with Risk Assessment and Safe Mechanical and Electrical guidelines
  • Report problems with quality, processes, equipment and material to Repair Supervisors and/or Repair Manager
  • Document actions by completing quality checklists
  • Work with supervision to understand our process capabilities and develop ideas that reduce costs and improve quality
  • Provide basic hands-on job function training to coworkers as needed
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing function
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, and management
  • Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
  • Accurately track and record time spent on projects
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures
  • Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50lbs

  • Perform entry level SAP Transactions
  • Assist higher level techs as needed and learn for advancement
  • Basic understanding of SAP processes and transactions regarding production orders
  • Evaluate, repair, and test, Xray, Metal Detection, and/or Checkweigh with support/ supervision
  • Search and compile parts lists from Teamcenter and SAP order BOMs
  • Enter Detailed QN tasks
  • Disassemble and prepare product inspection equipment in accordance with Risk assessment and Safe Mechanical and Electrical Guidelines
  • Follow detailed work instructions to remove liners, cables, and graphite from the MD Heads
  • Use safety procedures while disposing of crates, cardboard, and wood boxes
  • Follow work instructions provided to empty and reload vacuum chambers
  • Prepare, assemble and install all types of HD, ABS and Pharm style liners on Metal Detectors
  • Setup Metal Detectors for overnight testing when completed and verify performance
  • Use ADM polymer Concrete Casting machine to carry out the potting process for new builds with support
  • Use the Delta DX 730 Encapsulation system to carry out the topping up process for new builds with support
  • Responsible for cleaning and preventative maintenance of the machines with support/ supervision
  • Support the head build process of glueing internal former to metal detector case
  • Perform QC inspection and shipping requirements with support/ supervision
  • Test mechanical operation of equipment to ensure that it meets specifications with support/ supervision
  • Complete final Quality assurance check list, PVC, and shipping documents with photograph and documentation of equipment shipped
  • Responsible for proper and safe packaging of equipment and movement to shipping department
  • Assemble test cards, sticks, balls, wands, tablets and test plugs with support/ supervision
  • Utilize programs and engraving machines to make samples
  • Utilize and operate drill press, laminating machine, and glue gun
  • Requires proper cataloging storage and precise inventory rotation of the certified spheres
  • Maintain accurate certified contaminate sphere records on shared excel database, printing labels and maintaining locked sphere storage
  • Interface closely with internal sources of test sample materials, communicating needs in such a fashion that stockouts do not occur; also responsible for pick up of those internal generated materials
  • Ensure all test cards are tested for quality assurance before shipment
  • Basic knowledge of SAP able to close out production orders
  • Create own certificates in job workbook
  • Use micrometer to measure incoming product and document measurements in system
