As a Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer (MME) in the Advanced and Operations Engineering (AOE) Organization, you will play a key role in the design, development, and manufacturing of Google’s data center server and rack products. You will have the opportunity to work on impactful projects and make significant contributions to Google and our Contract Manufacturer's (CM's) hardware manufacturing processes. You will build and deploy technology worldwide to support the needs of compute, storage, networking, and machine learning hardware. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $115,000-$166,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineer or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience assembling electro-mechanical products such as compute, network, or storage racks.
  • Experience with one or more of the following fabrication processes: NCT sheet metal, metal stamping, injection molding, die casting, CNC, welding, press brake forming, or hardware insertion and manufacturing statistical processes.
  • Experience with mechanical design of electro-mechanical assemblies and fixtures, including 3D CAD tools (Creo, SolidWorks), 2D drawings with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)/Constraint-Tolerance-Feature (CTF)/ analysis and material selection, BOM creation using Product Data Management systems (Agile, Windchill), and DFMEA/PFMEA.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience overseeing yield improvements and cycle time reductions for high volume and high complexity parts.
  • Ability to plan and execute moderately complex projects with cross-functional teams and ensure technical excellence with global partners.
  • Excellent technical program management, written and verbal communication and people management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Review designs using Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM/DFA) fundamentals to develop manufacturable and scalable sheet metal (soft and hard tooled) and complex electro-mechanical rack assembly products from concept to mass production with guidance from executive engineers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Design Engineering, Quality, Program Managers, Safety, Global Commodity Management, Sustaining Engineering, and Data Center Technicians to help implement cost-effective designs and manufacturing processes optimized for scalability.
  • Participate in supplier technical evaluations, product qualification planning, and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) for mechanical parts, assemblies, and L11 rack integration at CM partners based on volume, ramp timeline, and product requirements.
  • Work with the Product Data Management team to create, review, and approve Bill of Materials (BoM), Approved Manufacturer Lists (AML), and Engineering Change Orders (ECO) with guidance from senior engineers.
