About The Position

Our partner has experience of almost 40 years in marine industry. We are now looking for our collaboration partner a highly motivated, responsible and experienced Mechanical Lead (Hydraulics & Mechanical Technicians.

Requirements

• Minimum Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (Degree preferred).
• Minimum 5 years in a senior technician or supervisory role.
• Proven hands-on experience in hydraulic and mechanical systems.
• Experience in marine, shipyard, or industrial environments required.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, technical manuals, and work scopes.
• Excellent problem-solving, time management, and communication skills

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with marine classification societies (e.g., DNV, ABS, Lloyd’s).
• Experience with hydraulic systems troubleshooting (e.g., steering gear, winches, cranes).
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Fluent in English; Maltese or other EU languages a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of mechanical and hydraulic technicians.
• Coordinate daily job assignments and ensure timely project execution.
• Conduct technical assessments and quality control of completed works.
• Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of hydraulic and mechanical systems on marine vessels and industrial equipment.
• Diagnose system faults and perform root cause analysis.
• Work with equipment such as pumps, motors, actuators, gearboxes, and control systems.
• Liaise with project engineers, client representatives, and classification societies.
• Support preparation of job scopes, technical documentation, and progress reports.
• Ensure full compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company procedures.
• Support the upskilling of junior technicians through on-the-job training.
• Maintain technical documentation and encourage knowledge sharing.
