Come work with the multidisciplinary engineers at the Valley Forge Site who are focused on delivering world class Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE). You will be responsible for the design solutions that support the specific customer and the MGSE Organization. As a Mechanical Engineer, Senior in a diverse work force the candidate shall be responsible for the development, design, fabrication, test, and delivery of MGSE.

Requirements

  • Professional experience engaging in mechanical engineering fundamentals such as structures, mechanisms and materials
  • Mechanical design and/or manufacturing experience producing, reading, and/or utilizing engineering design drawings
  • Proficiency with 3D engineering CAD tools (CREO, Solidworks, etc)
  • Must be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated Manufacturing experience with production operations and ATLO experience
  • Working knowledge of industry standards such as ANSI, OSHA, and AWS
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and ASME Y14.5.
  • Working knowledge of Composite Layup processes
  • Working Knowledge of EPDM.
  • Knowledge of LM Space command media.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing techniques
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and collaboration skills required in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical design solutions of varying complexity using solid models, detailed drawings, and release of engineering work products such as fixtures, gages, jigs, and equipment to support manufacturing processes.
  • Interact with Manufacturing Engineering team on design and specification changes to ensure robust product designs and effective implementation
  • Utilize 3D CAD (CREO) software to prepare tooling models, assemblies, and drawings
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering teams to resolve and investigate any tooling issues and support manufacturing to ensure program requirements and schedules are met
  • Evaluate tooling designs in support of Production Control/Purchasing to assist make/buy decisions
  • Work with local Machine Shop and CNC Programming team to execute internal tooling builds
  • Supports production meetings and manufacturing and test anomaly / discrepancy resolution
  • Provides weekly / monthly status and regularly present to peers / leadership.
  • May require weekend/off-hour support for Production schedules
  • Primary work location is "On-site" - Travel may be required (5% or less)
  • Excellent communicator, self-starter and must have extreme attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Candidate must have good oral, written, and presentation communication skills
  • Will work in an environment with evolving requirements and dynamic schedules
