About The Position

As a Mechanical Field Engineer Intern, you will engage in various work assignments, projects, and activities of varying complexity while applying standard engineering techniques & procedures. The ideal candidate will be pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or another Engineering or Construction-related field and will be strongly considering a career in power generation or large-scale/industrial construction following graduation. The Mechanical Field Engineer Intern is primarily responsible for supporting construction activities by planning, organizing, & implementing the project controls system, assisting with subcontracts & material management, and supporting purchasing & scheduling. Candidates should possess a commitment to top quality and an unwavering work ethic, be able to identify conflicts & provide solutions, and have a vast attention to detail.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Power Engineering, or another Engineering or Construction-related area of study.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft programs, particularly Excel.
  • Highly motivated individual with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and willing to do what it takes to get the job done right.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the Scope of Work (SOW), contract, plans, and specifications. Identify discrepancies and obtain resolution.
  • Support technical interface between the site, the Project Engineering Manager (PEM), and the Engineer of Record (EOR).
  • Assist Field Engineers with their support of the General Superintendent and Discipline Superintendents with work planning & problem resolution.
  • Monitor field changes and provide redline drawings of the as-built conditions.
  • Interface with subcontractors as assigned by the General Superintendent.
  • Track schedule progress and provide quantitative tracking of work progress weekly.
  • Expedite testing reports, review for specification compliance, and provide to Quality Control.
  • Provide documentation for change order requests.
  • Inspect delivered materials with QA/QC site representative to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Generate, track, and sign-off on mechanical punch list items.
  • Integrate all required mechanical documentation for turnover packages for Commissioning.
  • Assist Start-Up team during checkout and PEM during Performance Tests.
  • Prepare material requisitions for discipline Superintendents.
  • Generate and track RFI’s pertaining to assigned discipline on the project.
  • Track & record lessons learned.
