We are Dover Precision Components, #LifeAtDPC Position Summary: We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our R&D team. This role provides hands-on experience in the early stages of the engineering lifecycle, from ideation to prototype testing. The intern will work under the direct supervision of experienced engineers to support active research and development projects.

Requirements

  • Currently pursing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or applicable engineering discipline.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to hands-on experiences in lab settings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated passion for mechanical engineering.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Minitab) and general lab equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist R&D engineers with the design, analysis, and development of new mechanical components and systems.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations and mechanical simulations (e.g., structural, thermal, dynamics analysis) using hand calculations and software tools.
  • Participate in prototype fabrication, lab testing, and data collection/analysis. This includes setting up test equipment, conducting experiments, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers and manufacturing specialists, on integrated R&D efforts.
  • Document design progress, test results, and engineering processes by preparing technical reports and presentations for the team.
  • Develop and update 3D CAD models and technical drawings in accordance with industry drafting standards.
