About The Position

The Mechanical Engineering Intern will assist in the design, development, and improvement of mechanical systems, machines, and tools. This role provides hands-on experience in applying engineering principles to real-world projects while supporting the engineering team in research, design, and troubleshooting activities. Approximately 50% of this internship will be spent out in the shop with hands-on learning and practical application of engineering concepts.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Completed coursework in engineering fundamentals and design.
Proficient computer skills.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Basic understanding of mechanical design principles.
Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD required; 3D modeling preferred).
Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Self-motivated and eager to learn.
Able to sit, stand, bend, crouch, push/pull, and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
Must meet physical and safety requirements for tool handling.

Responsibilities

Assist in interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models.
Support research and feasibility studies for new designs and processes.
Help develop and test prototypes or models under the guidance of senior engineers.
Perform basic engineering calculations and prepare preliminary layouts.
Assist in specifying components and reviewing modifications for compliance with design standards.
Work with CAD software to create or update design drawings.
Participate in investigating equipment issues and recommend solutions with supervision.
Collaborate with engineers and team members to resolve technical challenges.
Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Perform other tasks as assigned by engineering management.
