Project Overview: Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland's nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come. This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulation 10 CFR Part 810, which governs the transfer of hardware, materials, and technology to support the construction and operation of commercial nuclear power plants overseas.Job Summary: As a Mechanical Engineering Lead, you will support the Mechanical Engineering Group Supervisor in leading other Mechanical Engineers in preparing designs for Mechanical Systems to support the project. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving capabilities, and the desire to innovate designs. This position has technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, and coordinating these assignments. This involves exploration of the subject area, the definition of the scope, and may involve the development of novel concepts, approaches, and solutions. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in system design and will be capable of developing design documents including piping and instrument diagrams and equipment data sheets that incorporate the applicable design. You will be interfacing and coordinating with other engineering disciplines and the client in developing the design. Additionally, the ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), can be the “face” of Bechtel, promoting our leadership, quality, and safety values, to external partners including vendors, construction companies, and other subcontractors.
