Internship Description: Mechanical Engineering Intern will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver technical solutions to real world challenges and learn design and manufacturing activities in a fast-paced, creative, avionics and defense manufacturing company. Responsibilities may include research, design, development, and testing of electronics packaging of interface panels products and systems for aerospace and ground applications as well as creating or improving technical processes within the company. The mechanical engineering intern is responsible for providing support and assistance to technical teams to ensure design goals are met. Project Description The intern will help develop and implement design standards for Korry electronics impacting the design activities for Mechanical Engineers in the Utility Control Systems Business Unit. These may include but are not limited to: Work with an Electrical and Systems Engineering Intern on a project to develop a replacement for the current Programmable Interface Module Develop a standard for estimating product cost and weight at various stages of product development Develop a standard for optical and lighting analysis and measurement processes The intern will also support design activities including troubleshooting legacy design issues, recommending solutions and implementing engineering change orders to resolve them in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • You must be actively working towards your Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • Eligible candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • This position requires access to export control information. To conform to US Export Control regulations, applicant should be eligible for any required authorizations from the US Government.
  • Availability to work onsite in Everett, 5 days per week
  • Frequent use of personal computers, database and digital platforms, and other office productivity machinery, such as copy machines and computer printers
  • Frequently uses hands, fingers, and arms to reach, handle, touch or feel equipment, materials, and computer
  • The person in this position needs to frequently move inside the office.
  • Frequent close vision and the ability to adjust focus

Responsibilities

  • Participate on project teams to support new product design and sustaining activities
  • Research and establish new processes for the engineering team to follow in development activities
  • Work closely with Senior Engineering Staff to define solutions to challenging engineering projects and author design change activities
  • Interface with hardware design, quality, and manufacturing teams to resolve time-sensitive problems
  • Performs special projects/tasks as assigned
