About The Position

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join the Data, Power & Control Division as part of the Starline Team in Canonsburg, PA. The Mechanical Engineer Intern will provide support to the Engineering Department and will contribute to the commercialization, application, and customization of all Starline products. This position will work under clearly defined guidelines and close supervision of the Engineering Manager and other Mechanical Engineers.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college pursuing a BS in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology degree.
  • Exposure to CAD software.
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, communications, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting, and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
  • The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas, where, under certain conditions, the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and communicate with others.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Assist in mechanical engineering design tasks in support of customer-specific customizations of Starline products.
  • Assist in creating technical documentation such as drawings, Engineering Design Instructions, Engineering Work Instructions, and wiring diagrams.
  • Support the integration of 3rd-party products with Starline's product offerings.
  • Support the resolution of design issues encountered during product manufacturing by collaborating with operators, documenting required changes through the Engineering Change process, and authoring Engineering Deviation Authorizations.
  • Assist in supporting improvements to Starline's engineering information systems to ensure high-quality engineering information is provided to production and other customers of this information.
  • Participate in projects centered around Legrand's Sustainability Compliance initiatives, including efforts to provide Product Environmental Profile (PEP) marking on all Starline products.
  • Participate in Team-based initiatives within Starline.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
