About the Opportunity: The Life Fitness / Hammer Strength Internship Program 2026 is now accepting applicants in their junior and senior year. We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as summer interns. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Mechanical Engineering, develop valuable skills, and contribute to Life Fitness / Hammer Strength's mission and goals. Successful applicants will be assigned meaningful and challenging work suitable for their background. The program advisor(s) and mentors will meet with you regularly to identify and develop your summer objectives. This position is paid, based in Ramsey, Minnesota, and will run for approximately 13 weeks.  Not available for remote opportunity.

Requirements

  • Must reside near Ramsey, MN
  • Currently enrolled in a full-time Mechanical or related Engineering Bachelor’s degree program, graduating in 2027 or 2028
  • Strong academic standing preferred, minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher
  • Initiative, positive attitude and eagerness to learn
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adapt well to different situations and thrive in a challenging, fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with fellow interns on a 13-week-long group case study and presenting the results to senior leaders, stakeholders, and managers
  • Follow Life Fitness Mechanical Engineering departmental procedures and design guidelines to complete engineering tasks as assigned
  • Use SolidWorks to complete CAD model and drawing development for metal and plastic components
  • Performs engineering analyses (FEA, design calculations, and tolerance analysis) of designs under the direction of an experienced mechanical engineer or manager
  • Actively contribute and have an impact on a business-critical project
  • Perform day-to-day duties and responsibilities in related field or business function
