This is what you need to know: Location: Woburn, MA Salary: $25 p/h Contract start and duration: As soon as possible, 12-week contract Reporting to: Mechanical Engineer II Type One Energy Group, Inc. is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team and contribute to the design and development of fusion stellarator magnets and systems. This internship offers hands-on experience in mechanical design, prototyping, and assembly processes. You will work closely with engineers and technicians to support development and test initiatives.

Requirements

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field of study.
  • Software skills such as experience using NX or other CAD software.
  • Ability to receive guidance, work independently, and contribute to a team.
  • Proficiency with hand tools and power tools for prototyping.
  • Ability to perform rigorous measurements with attention to sources of error.
  • Strong safety mindset

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with superconducting materials is not required, but knowledge of or eagerness to learn about superconductivity and cryogenic materials testing will be helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating and updating CAD models and engineering drawings for mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Support design reviews, ensuring manufacturability and compliance with engineering standards.
  • Participate in prototype development, including assembly and testing of components and systems.
