About The Position

The Mission Systems Hardware Engineering Department is seeking a motivated and driven Engineering Intern to join our team in Marlborough, MA or Largo, FL locations. Are you up for a challenge? Mission Systems Engineering leads the mechanical and electrical hardware design, development, and production of DoD and Government Communications Systems. The department supports customers for Land, Sea, and Airborne Programs for our US military and various international customers, keeping the world safe from foreign threats. You will be exposed to exciting, meaningful, and technically challenging assignments within a growing business. Bring your skills and talent to help our products compete within an aggressive market! As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will be a member of a multi-disciplinary Integrated Program Team (IPT) consisting of System, Hardware and Software Engineers. Your work can support development of next generation systems, design enhancements, upgrades for existing products, and transition to production efforts. Product areas can include circuit card assemblies, electronic packages, and reflector-type antennas for communications systems.

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PTC CREO CAD tool
  • Technical experience through prior internships
  • Prior leadership experience
  • Proficiency in mechanical design CAD tools
  • Proficient knowledge of the use of Microsoft Office Products
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and demonstrates history of working well in a team environment
  • Strong interest in the mechanical design process

Responsibilities

  • 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) modelling
  • Electronics packaging with electrical component selection and evaluation
  • Thermal, structural, or other analysis work
  • Detailed design of components and assemblies
  • Generation and update of drawings and documentation
  • Procurement and production support
  • Test and Evaluation
