Check out the IAMGOLD Blog Read about our Côté Gold About the role: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineering Student who will support the maintenance, reliability, and project teams by assisting with equipment inspections, engineering analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives across the site. The student will gain hands‑on experience in troubleshooting mechanical systems, reviewing technical drawings, and contributing to safe and reliable operations. This role offers meaningful exposure to real‑world engineering challenges while supporting the efficiency, safety, and performance of our mechanical assets. This role will be based at our Côté Gold mine site (Gogama, Ontario) on a 14 on, 14 off rotational schedule.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Must be registered in a recognized co-op or internship program.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work in field conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with equipment inspections, data collection, and condition monitoring for fixed and mobile equipment.
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance activities, including reviewing PM tasks and documentation.
  • Compile and analyze mechanical performance data to identify inefficiencies, recurring issues, or improvement opportunities.
  • Help troubleshoot mechanical problems by participating in root‑cause reviews and recommending corrective actions.
  • Update and maintain engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documents under guidance from engineers.
  • Support small engineering or reliability projects, including scoping, planning, and tracking progress.
  • Participate in shutdown work, project installations, or commissioning activities where applicable.
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams on safety, continuous improvement, and asset‑reliability initiatives.
