About The Position

The mechanical engineer is a key member of the ETE Machining and Engineering group, responsible for working on all stages of production cycles, from research and design to manufacturing, installation, and evaluation. This role involves collaborating with manufacturing engineering and operations teams to improve and expand the production system, focusing on key metrics such as production, safety, quality, labor, and costs. ETE REMAN is the largest independent aftermarket automatic transmission remanufacturer in the United States, based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and has been rebuilding transmissions since 1985, growing to over 800 team members. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
  • Experience in an engineering role within a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrate superior communication and organizational skills
  • Background working on the shop floor with operations staff to assist in solving issues
  • Understand operational theory of automatic transmissions
  • Experience with assembly of complex hydraulic/mechanical assemblies
  • Proven experience in tracking and understanding manufacturing operations and implementing solutions to drive continuous improvement
  • Functional in Solidworks, Excel, Power-point, and other related programs
  • Possess solid mechanical troubleshooting abilities
  • Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Be extremely flexible regarding priority changes
  • Be fluent in speaking, reading and writing English
  • Have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret procedures and/or safety manuals
  • Be a self-starter and able to work effectively with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

  • Perform a full lifecycle for product development; Designing, Developing, Test prototypes, Manufacturing, and Implementation of components that fulfill customer requirements
  • Provide technical/subject matter expertise and guidance for the resolution of product design and manufacturing problems
  • Create 3D models and blueprints using CAD technology (SolidWorks) that meets the needs and requirements of the customer
  • Utilize CAM software technology to manufacture
  • Be proficient with the use of measuring and gaging equipment
  • Be proficient in the use of GD&T and G&M coding
  • Prepare product reports and documentation
  • Identify, formulate and produce effective solutions to emerging problems
  • Evaluate the final product’s overall performance, reliability and safety
  • Design new tools/fixtures/gauges/equipment that provide a positive impact to improving the manufacturing processes
  • Project management
  • Uphold manufacturing standards including machine capability, process maps, set-ups, quality controls, tooling and fixture records, routings and cycle times
  • Partner with on-site EHS to ensure all equipment meets safety regulations compliant with OSHA
