Susquehanna Nuclear is seeking a mechanical engineer who is interested in design work at a nuclear power plant. The job includes preparing or reviewing modifications and item replacements. In addition, the position includes overseeing installation and testing for prepared modifications. The mechanical area of focus includes piping, tubing, valves, pumps, fans, bolting, leak repairs, and other industrial equipment. Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Provide technical expertise and consultation to identify/resolve equipment and system problems. Use existing procedures to investigate, evaluate and produce technically correct and cost-effective designs or recommendations that solve ongoing problems. Directly interface with other workgroups (i.e. Operations, Maintenance) and Station Leadership regarding plant issues and improvement initiatives. Build relationships that will facilitate knowledge transfer, cross functional knowledge of related work groups, and ability to present work products effectively. Assist with developing procedures, improving design recommendations, and new equipment purchase recommendations. Leading multi-discipline teams as the Lead Responsible Engineer for plant engineering changes (modifications). Preparation and review of engineering change packages in accordance with plant procedures. Providing support for outages, emergent issues, and generation challenges which may require shift work/off hours. Participation in the Emergency Response Organization, in which the successful candidate will be assigned a specific duty. Performing other assigned duties as determined by the Mechanical/Civil Design Engineering Branch Manager. Performs Outage and Nuclear Emergency Response Organization (NERO) duties as qualified and assigned. Candidates must meet the basic qualifications to receive consideration.
