Requirements

  • 5–10 years of engineering design and/or project management experience
  • Strong mechanical/HVAC design capability in healthcare and acute care settings
  • Familiarity with HCAI codes and standards, FGI Guidelines, and NFPA-99
  • Comfortable presenting complex engineering concepts to clients and stakeholders
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • AutoCAD
  • Revit
  • California Building Code
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under pressure
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Experience maintaining strong client relationships
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License (California preferred)

Nice To Haves

  • Project management experience is a plus
  • Additional certifications are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all phases of healthcare-focused projects—from proposal development through construction completion.
  • Apply advanced engineering concepts, perform complex calculations and modeling, and oversee design, specifications, and working drawings.
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with clients and subconsultants to deliver high-quality results.
  • Apply advanced engineering concepts to solve complex HVAC and medical gas design challenges
  • Perform detailed engineering and economic calculations and modeling
  • Troubleshoot operating systems and resolve technical disputes
  • Develop specifications and construction estimates for large healthcare projects
  • Peer review large-scale designs and reports
  • Administer project budgets, schedules, and deliverables
  • Seal drawings and provide direction to design teams
  • Mentor less experienced engineers and assist with time management
  • Lead construction meetings and produce documentation including punch lists and meeting reports
  • Represent P2S at professional meetings and industry events
