Dewberry’s vibrant Raleigh, NC office includes over 200 design professionals, including the largest Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Structural (MEPS) Healthcare Group in North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina. This group is focused on providing master-planning and design services for facilities and campus infrastructure for most of the major healthcare clients in the regions where we are located. Our healthcare experience includes major trauma centers, oncology centers, ambulatory facilities, central plants, school of medicine facilities, and more. Raleigh’s healthcare group contains subject matter experts, regularly attending and presenting at all major conferences such as ASHE, VSHE, ASHRAE, etc. Besides healthcare, the Raleigh office has other focused MEPS design groups serving higher education, K-12 schools, state/local government, federal, and more. Because our backlog continues to grow, we are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Raleigh, NC office’s existing Healthcare department. As the senior mechanical engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design of mechanical healthcare systems. In addition to collaborating with mechanical engineers, you will team with structural, civil, electrical, and other disciplines to provide full-range services to our clients.

Requirements

  • Experience in the design of institutional, educational, healthcare, laboratory, and military projects is desired.
  • The candidate should have a proven history of solid design work, meeting project deadlines and budgets, and working well in a team environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer’s license.
  • 15+ years of technical experience in the design of healthcare system s.
  • Self-motivated and well organized.
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Existing licensure in NC and/or VA is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare mechanical engineering calculations, reports, construction drawings and specifications, project schedules, and cost estimates to meet project requirements.
  • Projects may include the design of healthcare facilities and infrastructure, central utility plants, condition assessments, etc.
  • Technical guidance and quality oversight, including code review, of all project work.
  • Technical training and development of staff.
  • Assist in establishing and improving standards, practices, guidelines, and specifications.
  • Engineer of Record.
  • Provide 'on-the-spot' advice and decisions - technical and cost estimates.
  • Coordination with all the disciplines involved, including outside consultants.
  • Technical interface with code officials and contractors.
