About The Position

Mechanical Engineers handle complex engineering assignments that require strong judgment, initiative, and problem-solving skills. They interpret policies, determine work priorities, and plan for future system needs while leading major projects from concept through completion. In this role, they may oversee and coordinate the work of technical and professional staff, ensuring quality and efficiency. Their responsibilities involve performing and managing advanced engineering tasks that demand a high level of expertise, training, and experience. They are responsible for planning future system needs and developing, implementing, and monitoring major construction and/or developer projects, from inception to completion. They are expected to perform and administer the most complex professional engineering work requiring a substantial level of professional training and experience.

Requirements

  • 2–5+ years' experience in Water distribution systems or Utilities engineering water/wastewater
  • Experience with infrastructure asset management
  • Understanding of: Pumps, valves, pipelines, and hydraulic systems
  • Experience working with industrial or municipal operations support
  • Knowledge of maintenance and lifecycle of infrastructure assets
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work with specs, standards, and O&M procedures

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Water distribution modeling
  • Experience with Asset management systems (CMMS, GIS-based tracking)
  • Experience with Capital improvement planning (CIP)
  • Experience with Regulatory frameworks (EPA, state DEQ)
  • Managing small-to-mid projects
  • Budgeting, scheduling, and contractor coordination
