About The Position

The qualified candidate will be able to work independently and in a group setting, will be able to engineer a project in its entirety (with input from other engineers within the company as needed), research, plan, and design mechanical and electromechanical products and systems, and be directly involved in fabrication of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems by performing the following duties. About Core Systems Core Systems is a global leader in rugged embedded systems for military and industrial needs based out of California. We design and manufacture each product at our facility, in Poway, CA. Our 85,000+ square foot facility features on-site engineering, metal fabrication, and system assembly, along with a complete MIL-SPEC Testing Lab. Our goal is to build and distribute the most cost-effective, high-performance rugged products in the industry. Core Systems is one of the only vertically integrated rugged computer manufacturers in the nation. Our wide range of rugged products has been deployed in ground vehicles, aircraft, and maritime installations worldwide.

Requirements

Proficient in Solidworks
Proficient in PDM
Able to use document control system
Precision sheet metal and CNC milling design
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and 5+ years of experience related to packaging of electronic equipment/systems

Nice To Haves

Experience with EMI/EMC design guidelines
Experience with injection molding
Experience with FEA and CFD

Responsibilities

Research and analyze data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
Designs products or systems such as rugged enclosures, chassis and LCD housings with proper, thermal or heat transfer.
Directs and coordinates fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
Recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
Other duties as assigned.
