About The Position

Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support operations within the Directed Energy business unit. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and integration of advanced mechanical systems that support high-energy laser and microwave technologies. Your responsibilities will include designing and analyzing structural components, thermal management systems, and precision assemblies critical to directed energy platforms. You will also support fabrication, testing, and validation efforts to ensure systems meet stringent performance, reliability, and safety requirements. Requirements

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; or 3 years experience with Masters or PhD in a related field.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong work ethic.
  • Ability to think critically and problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to translate requirements into tasks and completed designs.
  • Ability to perform fundamental analysis working from first principals.
  • Experience with SolidWorks CAD tools. 2D and 3D.
  • Experience in creating DFMEA.
  • Hands on prototyping experience.
  • Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Experience with fabrication and methods of manufacture.
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with FEA and CFD analysis.
  • Experience with MATLAB and/or ANSYS .
  • Experience executing PM activities that may include cost, schedule, engagement, etc.
  • Experience engineering hardware for Department of Defense.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with government stakeholders, company leadership, and technical subject matter experts in a wide range of disciplines.
  • Experience with SolidWorks Product Data Management.
