Join us and design your place with Stantec. Your Opportunity Our Buildings team is looking for a Project Mechanical Engineer with a focus in HVAC design. You will work with direct supervision and general direction on tasks and smaller projects, and as a team member of larger projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer/Designer. You will assist in evaluating, selecting, specifying, and engineering certain Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) building systems for a project verifying compliance with applicable codes and internal engineering standards / practices. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include Revit modeling, preparing design drawings, performing system calculations, ductwork design, piping design, specifying equipment, field survey work, and construction administration. Your Key Responsibilities Work with a team of design colleagues to conceptualize and develop full documentation for new construction and renovation projects for multiple types of facilities such as: healthcare, industrial, commercial offices, higher education, research laboratories or similar applications. Evaluate, select, specify, and engineer mechanical HVAC systems for a project. Engage in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats. Utilize Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies in development of three-dimensional models of building’s mechanical systems. Prepare and revise documentation in various mechanical phases including site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details. Participate in project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors. Participate in client contact on projects to establish design criteria, review design progress as well as providing support through construction administration. Support the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents. Work on multiple projects. Conduct field surveys of existing conditions of building spaces. Prepare field reports and punch lists. Provide basic mentoring to junior staff.
