Position Purpose: This Mechanical Engineer position supports the Department of Energy customer work scope primarily in nuclear facilities within the Civil/Structural & Analysis organization in a variety of projects and functions. Integrate safety into all aspects of engineering duties and personal accountability in the workplace. While not required, experience in the nuclear field and related construction is preferred, along with the ability to: Apply advanced principles, theories, and concepts, contribute to the development of new principles and concepts, develop solutions to complex problems or create innovations through adaptation of emerging technological developments or processes, serve as organization spokesperson on specialized topics within an area of expertise (e.g., component design and analyses are primarily with steel (and alloys). Additionally, may require planning efforts on complex assignments or projects, lead major design/analysis efforts, always evaluating progress and results and recommending changes in processes and procedures.
