About The Position

AMETEK IntelliPower is a leading manufacturer of ruggedized, Uninterruptible Power Supplies, Frequency Converters, Power Conditioners, Power Distribution Units, and Battery Modules and Chargers. These products are designed to withstand harsh conditions in both military and commercial applications. We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the design and development of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems. This role involves working on enclosure design, thermal management, and manufacturability to ensure optimal performance and reliability. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in mechanical engineering, particularly in the electrical equipment or UPS industry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience (UPS, power electronics, electrical enclosures, or similar fields).
  • Proficiency in AutoDesk Inventor for 3D modeling and drafting.
  • Strong understanding of heat transfer, structural mechanics, and material selection.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task, and meet deadlines while remaining flexible to changing work priorities.
  • Due to the nature of IntelliPower’s programs and products, applicants must have the legal right to work in the U.S. Additionally, they must be legally authorized to access export-controlled information and source code.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with FEA and CFD analysis tools is a plus.
  • Experience with Oracle.
  • Power and testing or instrumentation-related product experience.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (sheet metal, injection molding, CNC machining, etc.).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-directed and independent work ethic; measure and report progress against defined objectives.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and exemplary moral character.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, modeling, and analysis of UPS enclosures and cooling systems.
  • Utilize AutoDesk Inventor to create and modify 3D models and detailed drawings.
  • Conduct structural and thermal analysis using FEA and CFD tools.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers, manufacturing teams, and suppliers to optimize designs for manufacturability and performance.
  • Participate in prototype development, testing, and validation processes.
  • Troubleshoot design problems and provide practical solutions.
  • Manage document control and ensure design revisions are accurately tracked using PLM/ERP software.
  • Support documentation efforts, including design reports, BOMs, and manufacturing guidelines.
  • Direct, review, and approve work completed by other mechanical engineers and engineering teams in India.
