About The Position

Participate in all aspects of the development of new products as well as product upgrades and enhancements from concept through layout, detailing prototype development and release to manufacturing. Interface with internal and external fabrication vendors and consultants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 2 years of industrial machinery design – 5 years preferred
  • 5+ years related experience
  • Custom process machine design experience
  • Inventor or Solidworks, 3-D Modeling experience

Responsibilities

  • Ability to use Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD software. Basic MS Office software capability.
  • Ability to select Power Transmission, Pneumatic, Hydraulic and related equipment. Must be able to interface with manufacturers and distributors of these products.
  • Ability to select electrical and control equipment. Must be able to interface with manufacturers and distributors of these products.
  • Ability to work with outside Machine and Fabrication shops and communicate designs through drawings.
  • Review and address safety issues on machines as they are designed and built.
  • Develop and Edit Parts Lists for submittal to the Production Planning Group. Maintain and update documentation on Machines as they are built and then shipped.
  • Assist Production Planning Group with timelines for new machines and out of stock spare parts.
  • Assist Parts Sales Department with parts replacement and retrofit packages as well as other customer-related opportunities that arise.
  • Assist Accounting Department when establishing pricing of new machines and individual components.
  • Assist Purchasing group with vendor selection and price negotiation.
  • Assist Assembly Floor Personnel with appropriate drawing and technical information as needed.
  • Assist Machine Shop and Inspection Departments as needed.
  • Assist Sales with customer visits as needed. Maintain relationships with customers and assist as needed.
  • Assist Service Technicians when they are in the field at customer’s locations.
  • Direct and assist other Engineers and Draftsmen as needed.
