About The Position

Whirlpool is currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer, Tooling Engineer to join our Engineering team. This is an onsite role for our Marion, OH location. To be successful in this role you will work with our design engineers and various tool shops around the world to lock in a design that meets the needs of the design intent and also meet the needs of the manufacturing plant with regards to standards, expected uptime, etc. Some travel will be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors of Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 years manufacturing experience
  • Background in leading the implementation of new large metal stamping dies
  • Experience using 3d software e.g. solid works, pro E etc
  • Journeyman’s card in the area of tooling
  • Toolmaker Experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Leading projects to specify/purchase new large stamping dies in support of major program launches
  • Leading changes to existing tools to support cost and quality initiatives
  • Communicating project updates to all levels of the organization
  • Leading toolshop to provide a design that Transforms print tolerances into a repeatable/robust stamping tool
  • Maintaining/updating/ submitting project documentation for each new tool. e.g. FMEA, NP stores load sheets, Purchased component listing etc
