About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer in the Engineering department is responsible for designing, improving, and maintaining mechanical systems that support automated manufacturing operations in various departments. The role is hands-on, technically challenging, and dynamic. Cardinal IG is a world-class glass fabricator that leads the nation in providing the highest quality insulating glass products for the residential window and door industry.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field required
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical design, manufacturing, automation, or product development preferred
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, including attention to detail
  • Effective communication (written and oral) – ability to communicate effectively with various audiences
  • SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or other 3D modeling systems.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
  • Dependable; able to accept responsibility for their actions and complete tasks in challenging situations
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in decision-making, ideas, and all aspects relating to the Cardinal IG team.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge to analyze, synthesize, interpret, and calculate data
  • Capacity for abstract thinking and comprehending complex technical topics and specialized information
  • Maintaining effectiveness in achieving goals by adapting to changed circumstances, tasks, responsibilities, and people
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft programs

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety practices, and guidelines
  • Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and analysis to ensure designs meet performance and safety requirements.
  • Recommend design modifications to improve existing mechanical designs to enhance efficiency, reliability, and production.
  • Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Collaborate with management teams to integrate improved mechanical design and optimize speed and cycle-time constraints.
  • Participate in engineering and cross-functional meetings to ensure mechanical design priorities support organizational and production objectives.
  • Ensure steady, consistent progress on project plans to achieve defined outcomes
  • Conduct root cause analysis to determine metrics, material flow production capacity, and suggest proper solutions, and create process documentation.
  • Working knowledge of industrial sensors, PLCs, and automation components to support equipment design and process optimization
  • Perform housekeeping tasks in the workspace to maintain a clean work area
  • The position requires regular, in-person attendance.
