About The Position

As a Licensed Engineer (PE), you’ll play a critical role in designing, analyzing, and overseeing mechanical systems and components within architectural and engineering projects. Your expertise, ability to mentor and lead younger engineers will contribute to the success of the mechanical engineering department and Anderson as a company.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Ability to guide and review the creation of technical and construction drawings.
  • Proficient with Energy load software such as Trane3d Plus or HAP
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a solid understanding of mathematics.
  • Strong self-starter and drive to learn new technology.
  • Expert with ASHRAE and Plumbing codes, ability to find and reference codes. Ability to mentor and help younger engineers learn code.
  • Experience with VA Technical Information Library (TIL).
  • Willingness to collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and engineers.
  • Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or related field from ABET Accredited school.
  • PE license

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve heat load calculations.
  • Utilize ASHRAE, International plumbing code and VA Til standards.
  • Review and guide Trane3D Plus or HAP use to produce HVAC designs, size equipment and product construction documentation.
  • Review and mentor high temp pipe stress strain documentation, reports and design based on AutoPipe analysis.
  • Review and mentor local plumbing code to review building plumbing systems and review Revit model and construction documents.
  • Review and mentor CAD software (such as AutoCAD, Revit) to review and modify technical drawing of mechanical and plumbing systems.
  • Review and mentor Revit to collaborate with other disciplines such as Architectural, Electrical, Civil.
  • Ability to utilize Lidar scans in Revit or Recap.
  • Ability to utilize BlueBeam Revu for document and drawing mark ups.
  • Review and mentor project narrative composition and content.
  • Present models or design during design review.
  • Continually work to improve department's drafting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Travel: Perform site visits and document gathering, including interaction with customers.
  • Work with Project Manager to develop project schedules, cost, and strategies.
  • Work with Project Manager to compose project narratives and design guidelines.
  • Compose and present continuing education, lunch and learn topics.
  • Mentor younger Designers, EIT and Interns.
