About The Position

We are looking for a motivated Mechanical Engineer who thrives on rapid iteration. We move with the speed and autonomy of a startup to bring next-generation battery technologies to market. In this role, you will work cross-functionally with our in-house teams to develop the next generation of battery and powertrain technologies for high-performance mobility and consumer applications. You will take on project ownership and design high-quality mechanical systems across a diverse product portfolio. Your impact will span the entire development lifecycle—from initial CAD design and simulation to rigorous validation testing, prototyping, and manufacturing bring-up. The ideal candidate values precision, thrives on technical challenges, and possesses excellent communication skills to bridge the gap between complex engineering and cross-functional execution.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of mechanical engineering experience, ideally involving battery technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with rapid-prototyping to create functional jigs and fixtures.
  • Experience designing for CNC Machining, Injection Molding, Sheet Metal, and 3D Printing.
  • Familiarity with laser welding and IP67 sealing methods.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical issues in succinct language to non-technical teammates.
  • BS, MS, or MEng in Mechanical Engineering.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing for consumer products, e-mobility, automotive, or aerospace applications.
  • Experience with manufacturing bring-up, both in-house and with external contract manufacturers (CMs).
  • Familiarity with PDM and PLM systems for revision control.
  • Knowledge of safety and transport standards (UN 38.3, UL 2580, UL 2271).
  • A demonstrated ownership mindset and the ability to thrive in ambiguity and fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design and model mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks CAD and PDM.
  • Execute structural, thermal, and fluid simulations, correlating digital results to physical testing.
  • Develop and execute test plans and design validation methods for battery system failure modes.
  • Perform trade-off analyses and DOEs to optimize designs for performance and cost.
  • Lead prototype builds and support manufacturing bring-up for new product lines.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (Electrical, Software, Systems) to deliver high-confidence products.
