About The Position

Mechanical Engineer IV Purpose: Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate need for a Mechanical Engineer IV in Virginia Beach, VA . This position is to provide research and development, and engineering efforts to support Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division Dam Neck (NSWCDD) initiatives. Job Description: Perform independent analysis on obsolete and emerging hardware that assesses the impact of those scenarios on current systems. Design and develop mechanical kit Technical Data Packages (TDPs) to include mounting support for COTs and/or GOTs. Provide acquisition recommendations based on independent analyses. Support the planning, designing, implementation, and integration of systems hardware components. Perform various engineering drawing development tasks and technical reviews. Perform gap analysis for various technical drawings, systems, and documents. Perform configuration management (CM) duties for various TDPs. Assist with Environment Qualification Tests (EQT) and functional testing, and create procedures, plans, and schedules. Perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) 3D Model Analysis. Provide design modifications based on Commercial Off the Shelf (COTs) components for obsolete parts and for modernization initiatives.

Requirements

  • Must have experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (I.e., Project and Excel).
  • Must have experience working with SSDS or shipboard systems.
  • Must have experience working with AutoCAD and Inventor
  • Must be able to support on-site tasking at Dam Neck Annex Base in Virginia Beach.
  • Must have an Active DoD Secret Security clearance and base access requirements.
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID.
  • Must be able to work in an office, industrial, or shipboard environment.
  • Be able to lift and move materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one-man lift.
  • Must be able to perform site surveys and carry a laptop computer.

Nice To Haves

  • 10 plus years of experience with SSDS, Navy, and/or shipboard systems, preferred.
  • Engineering BS degree from an ABET accredited school, preferred.
