Our Forensic practice investigates problems in the built environment and provides evidence-based solutions founded on rigorous science and physics. We assist attorneys, property managers, building owners, contractors, manufacturers, and design professionals with a wide range of engineering and architectural issues. The Role We have an opportunity for a Mechanical Intern for our Forensics Practice for Summer 2026, this is a full-time in-office internship expected to run May/June 2026 through August/September 2026. Engineering Interns will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of staff engineers and architects to provide assistance on a variety of tasks for active projects.

Requirements

  • Students should be familiar and comfortable with Microsoft Suite programs (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CAD programs (i.e. AutoCAD).
  • Students should be enrolled in a degree (Master's preferred) program in mechanical or chemical engineering.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with any of the following programs is a plus, but is not required: Revit, MicroStation, and Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

  • On-site survey, investigation, and documentation of building conditions, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems
  • Assist in preparing field notes
  • Assist engineering team in preparing technical and investigative reports to support forensics findings and prepare materials related to presentations.
  • Review and research applicable building codes, ASHRAE standards, and all other applicable industry standards, etc.
  • Assist the engineering team and preparation of drawings and specifications, and construction administration services.
