About The Position

To assist in designing new products and improving existing products in accordance with Pride’s procedures and protocols

  • Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Prospective interns must: Be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now, or in the future
  • Prospective interns must: Be at least in the equivalency of successfully completing Sophomore year of college before starting the internship
  • Work on-site in the Duryea, Pennsylvania facility full-time for a minimum of 1 summer OR work part-time for a minimum of 1 school semester

Nice To Haves

  • At least 60 hours of experience in 3D solid modeling of mechanical components and assemblies preferred
  • Provide approval documents from their college or university to receive college credit preferred
  • Related project or internship experience in designing mechanical systems and assemblies preferred
  • Related project or internship experience focused on medical devices preferred
  • Ability to lift/push/pull 40 lbs. preferred
  • Ability to provide a portfolio outlining experience creating 3D mechanical assemblies preferred
  • Ability to provide a portfolio outlining experience creating 2D detail drawings preferred
  • Ability to provide a portfolio outlining the use of GD&T within 2D detail drawings preferred
  • Ability to work continuously on-site in the Duryea, Pennsylvania facility full-time and/or part-time for 2 or more summers or school semesters preferred
  • Current or previous successful internship experience with Pride Mobility Products Corporation preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers with designing and analyzing mechanical systems and assemblies including but not limited to high load structural systems, suspension systems, vehicle chassis, and other powered or manual positioning systems
  • Assist engineers with daily activities such as prototype building, troubleshooting, and basic controller programming
  • Assist in developing Bill of Materials (BOM’s)
  • Assist engineers with developing models, assemblies, and drawings created through 3D CAD (SolidWorks) ensuring performance, efficiency, and cost targets are met
  • Assist with engineering calculations and documentation
  • Assist in ensuring designs’ safety, effectiveness, manufacturability, reliability, and Superior Product at Reduced Cost (SPARC) initiatives are met
  • Assist with component inspection and testing activities as required
  • Read, create, revise, and understand 2D drawings and tolerances (including GD&T)
  • Ensure all safety and security rules are strictly observed and any accidents, incidents or injuries are promptly reported to management
  • Focus on continuous improvement, and consistently demonstrate good business judgment
  • Work effectively with all Pride departments to exceed internal and external expectations
  • Pride retains the discretion to modify duties and/or assign other duties as necessary
