About The Position

Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise. This internship is a part of a 10-week full-time summer internship program opportunity. This role will be based at Archer’s headquarters in San Jose, California and relocation or housing will not be provided. Seeking a highly motivated intern for the High Voltage Battery Pack Mechanical Design team for Summer of 2026. On this team you will help with mechanical design, build, and test of the battery packs going into the Midnight aircraft.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent major (Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, etc.)
  • Must have completed at least 2 years of undergraduate coursework (rising Junior or Senior)
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience through previous internships, academic projects, or personal hobbies (robotics, maker projects, automotive work, etc.)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Can-do attitude, ready to learn and hit the ground running

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, or similar)
  • Experience with prototyping in machine shops
  • Involvement in clubs such as Formula SAE, Solar Car, Baja, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Take on a single project that requires analysis, design, and build to meet requirements.
  • Work with senior engineers to complete root cause and design improvement tasks on existing battery packs.
  • Use hands-on skills to aid with testing and test-fixture modifications.
