About The Position

A Summer Mechanical Engineer Intern supports engineering teams through CAD modeling, 3D printing/prototyping, testing, and documentation. Usually a 3-month role for engineering students, it involves analyzing data for process improvements, collaborating on design projects, and applying classroom knowledge to real-world manufacturing or design challenges under mentorship. Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • Basic knowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, such as statics and mechanics of materials.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design & Modeling: Create, update, and manage 3D CAD models (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor) and 2D technical drawings.
  • Testing & Analysis: Conduct mechanical tests, run simulations (FEA/ANSYS), and analyze data for, or for, validation.
  • Prototyping & Assembly: Assist with building, testing, and troubleshooting prototypes or production equipment.
  • Documentation: Prepare technical reports, design specifications, and work instructions.
  • Project Support: Participate in cross-functional team meetings, provide updates on assigned projects, and assist with root cause analysis.
