The Raytheon Mechanical Engineering (ME) Organization leads the mechanical hardware design, development and production of radar, sonar, torpedo, and combat system equipment. The ME Team uses state-of-the-art tools, processes, technology, and Raytheon’s CORE principles. ME’s capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials, processes, analysis, test, and documentation. We are looking to grow our team with an experienced Mechanical Engineer II in support of radar design and development. You will be responsible for supporting the mechanical teams in all phases of our design cycles, from concept development through design, development, build, and test. Key requirements for this position include proven problem-solving skills and experience in hardware design and integration, engineering analysis, and mechanical drawing creation with military hardware. Technical data package model and drawing development as well as change notice processing. Individuals will interface and collaborate primarily with other engineering disciplines, as well as operations, systems, quality and supply chain. This position is onsite and can either be in Tewksbury, MA or Marlboro, MA and may require travel to the area manufacturing facilities for team engagement and hardware assessments.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field.
  • Experience with phase array structures, hardware packaging, radome or array integration for military or mechanical or commercial applications.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1

Nice To Haves

  • Proven mechanical design ability in a production environment.
  • Detail orientated and demonstrated ability to effectively work in cross-functional a team environment.
  • Strong technical aptitude with ability to handle high-stress situations well.
  • Experience with CREO (Pro/E) or similar 3D solid modeling software.
  • Experience with PTC Windchill Product Data Management or equivalent configuration/data management software
  • Strong technical writing and oral communication skills.
  • Able to work autonomously with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize strong mechanical hardware design experience and knowledge with ruggedized structures, interconnects, electronic modules, radome and array integration.
  • Develop technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems related to the entire product life cycle including proposal, design, manufacture, integration and test of phase array radars/electronics for multiple military programs'
  • Participate or supervise the definitions of mechanical outline and construction details, component selection and specification, mechanical and assembly drawings, electrical/RF layout, and delivering the final technical data package.
  • Support and participate in design peer reviews, closing action items, resolving issues, and conducting trade studies to make sound technical decisions.
  • Work with limited supervision and meet commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals.
  • Provide technical conscience, challenged with making sure the product and process meet appropriate standards and requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure team members are aligned and aware of team goals and potential obstacles.
  • Participate or lead retrospectives to discuss what went well, what could be improved, and identify actionable improvements using methods within and beyond the Customer-Oriented Results and Excellence (CORE) system.
