Applies mechanical engineering skills to achieve timely engineering tasks within customer cost, and quality requirements in support of assigned project(s). Typically reports to a manager. Work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. The Ultra Engineering function manages a portfolio of specialist capabilities, generating highly differentiated solutions and products by applying electronic, mechanical, and software technologies in demanding and critical environments to meet customer needs. The Ultra Mechanical Engineering function designs, analyzes, and maintains mechanical components and systems to meet specified requirements and standards. Develops solutions and solves simple problems to deliver engineering projects on-time, on-quality, and on-budget. Conducts prototype testing to evaluate the performance, reliability, and safety of mechanical systems and collects and analyzes data for improvements. May carry out duties off-site as required based on project need. This role, Mechanical Engineer I, will primarily focus on Mechanical Design and CAD including processing Engineering Change Requests within SolidWorks parametric models and accompanying prints. A professional at this grade uses established procedures to solve problems by making judgments and gets work done with quality under moderate supervision. The Mechanical Engineer will play a role in a multi-disciplinary project team developing new and innovative solutions for the United States Navy and its partners in the Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) domain.
